i-Free introduces key speakers of "AINL: Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language" conference.

This year, world leading experts in the domain of artificial language will deliver speeches at the conference: Paolo Rosso, Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), expert in automated text processing and social media analysis; Heriberto Cuayáhuitl, Senior Research Fellow the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University (UK), expert in spoken dialogue systems and human-robot interaction; Irina Gurevich, Professor at the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), expert in knowledge management and language resources.

Dr. Paolo Rosso, being a subject matter expert in social media linguistic analysis, will present a paper on the "Irony Detection in Social Media". Dr. Heriberto Cuayáhuitl will tell about the current projects realized in his laboratory, which is involved in the development of smart dialogue systems. His paper is entitled "Enhanced Learning for Interactive Systems and Robots".

Dr. Irina Gurevich will present a paper "Programming language is not an island: Word Sense Alignment of Lexical-Semantic Resources». She describes word sense alignment as a fundamental task to combine LSRs and exploit their strengths in a complementary manner. In word sense alignment, the term’s word senses (e.g. Java as a programming language) with synonymous meanings in different resources have to be aligned and distinguished from the term’s other meanings (e.g. Java as an island).

  • 17 June, 2014

Irina Gurevich, Professor at the Technische Universität Darmstadt Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing (UKP) Lab, has confirmed her participation at the conference.

Irina will give a talk called "Programming language is not an island: Word Sense Alignment of Lexical-Semantic". In this talk, she will present word sense alignment as a fundamental task to combine LSRs and exploit their strengths in a complementary manner. In word sense alignment, the term’s word senses (e.g. Java as a programming language) with synonymous meanings in different resources have to be aligned and distinguished from the term’s other meanings (e.g. Java as an island). The talk will discuss text-similarity based and graph-based approaches to the problem of word sense alignment and their evaluation on LSR pairs with different properties. Finally, some applications of sense-aligned lexical-semantic resources to language processing will be highlighted.
